The Kenyan operation of the online retail store, Jumia, has partnered with the Postal Corporation of Kenya, Posta Kenya, to allow its customers pick up items they purchase online from post offices across Kenya.
This partnership means Jumia will leverage on Posta’s logistics infrastructure. BiztechAfrica reports that shoppers can opt-in for the serice by selecting the post office closest to them at checkout.
“We are delighted that our customers can now pick up items they order on Jumia from selected post-offices across the country,” BiztechAfrica quoted Parinaz Firozi, Director Jumia Kenya as saying. “This is a new direction in providing a stress-free, safe and convenient shopping experience.”
Jumia Kenya hopes to attract more customers with this partnership and also boost the ecommerce uptake in the country. In February, it partnered with Aramex, a courier company, to provide offline pick-up points for shopper in Nairobi.
Jumia Nigeria does not have a similar partnership in place, but local competition, Konga, recently partnered the Nigerian postal service (NIPOST) to use as one of its logistics network.
